Isabel Teo-Consultant Plastic Surgeon

Ms Teo is highly regarded Consultant Plastic Surgeon.

She is fully registered with the General Medical Council, and is on the specialist register for plastic surgery. 

Ms Teo’s private practice include body contouring surgery with liposuction and lipofilling, abdominoplasty (tummy tuck), cosmetic breast surgery (augmentation, lifts, reduction), lumps and bumps (skin tags, fatty lumps, scar revision), labia reduction, prominent ear correction, hand surgery and skin cancer excision.

Academia

Ms Teo obtained her medical degree from the University of Edinburgh with final year distinctions, and subsequently undertook a masters degree in surgical sciences, graduating with distinctions as well.  

Ms Teo has trained around the UK, and towards the end of her specialist training was awarded a highly prestigious and competitive Advanced Training Fellowship in cosmetic surgery; the highest recognised training programme for cosmetic surgery in the UK. Ms Teo then went on to pursue year long fellowships in Hand surgery (TIG fellowship, Oxford) and breast microsurgery (Chelmsford).

Ms Teo is currently a substantive consultant plastic surgeon at the John Radcliffe Hospital in Oxford, where she offers her care to breast reconstruction patients, trauma patients and skin cancer patients. Ms Teo currently sits on the multidisciplinary panel for both skin cancer and breast surgery. 



Research

Ms Teo has been very active with research. She has delivered more than 40 national and international presentations and has been published extensively in peer reviewed journals. She applies high standards in her academia, having achieved distinctions for both her basic medical degree and post graduate Masters degree. She passed all her plastic surgery exams at her first attempts and is a fellow of the Royal College of surgeons. She subsequently elected to sit for, and pass the British Hand Diploma, widely considered the Gold standard qualification for Hand surgeons in the United Kingdom. 

Trials

Ms Teo was the Associate Principal Investigator for the Randomised Controlled Trial NEON at Oxford in 2021 (analysing outcomes of finger digital nerve injuries), and is currently the Principal Investigator for the RCT Flare in Oxford (analysing tendon injuries in the finger).

Publications

Ms Teo is passionate about teaching and has authored chapters for four surgical textbooks. She teaches medical students, junior doctors and allied health care professionals, with her most notable invited lecture delivered to more than 3000 participants on breast reconstruction at the Samsing Workshop in Breast Cancer.
